Workshops
Our Workshop on Exploring Family History for Effective Social Work is for Social Workers,
Newly Qualified Social Workers, Social Work Students, Case Managers, Child Guidance
Officers, Family Practitioners and Professionals requiring Social Work experience.

To increase participants capability to take into account family history thinking about; how this might affect parents’ ability to engage, the seriousness that risks may
present, testing out hypothesis and balancing family strengths. -
To increase participants capability in using genograms, eco maps and chronologies whilst ensuring family participation in the process of a task centred plan and drawing
on relational social work practice.
This is an interactive training where we assist participants to enhance their knowledge and skills in relation to exploring family history. Where they will be confident in using direct work tools, such as genograms and chronologies, to gather relevant information and inform comprehensive assessments.
Participants will recognise the importance of exploring parents’ history, family background
and the environment in which they were raised.
